Happy Monday! So if you haven’t heard by now, yesterday was the cover reveal for Nook Notes Prayers & Devotions coffee table book. Celebrating this milestone has been nothing short of amazing but I must admit during the process of building a business I’d occasionally suffer from the "perfectionist" syndrome. I would over-exert myself in many areas because I wanted things to be just right, all of the time. The trouble with being a perfectionist is that no matter how many times you win or how many accomplishments you have, it will never be enough for you.
The lie of perfection can lead to discontentment, condemnation, resentment, & arrogance. It wasn’t until the Lord showed me later on that the enemy had been using “perfection” as a weapon to draw me away from the knowledge of God. You see, not only do you reject the help of God but you also dethrone Him from being God over ALL areas in your life because of your worldly idea of being "perfect". Being perfect is the desire to be right so that others may see “you” but the Spirit of Excellence doesn’t work that way. Pursuing excellence is different because you’re not looking to have the superiority or the applause of others but to ultimately do right by others. Titus 3:8 says “……those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.” Today I pray that you too will deny your will to be perfect & walk in the Spirit of Excellence so that everything you do will be profitable to those around you.
