How I knew I Was Being Manipulated

Have you ever listened to a sermon that made you re-evaluate yourself…..well that was me on yesterday. My pastor, Pastor Don Clark, spoke on “Manipulation” and how some of us have been victims of this controlling spirit. He mentioned how speaking truth in love combats the spirit of manipulation that makes us feel invalid or discredits our feelings. Unfortunately, some of us are introduced to manipulation starting early on in our families whether we have witnessed it as a third eye or have experienced it personally. But what do you do when the person manipulating you is a loved one? Well, you speak truth. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms, Ephesians 6:12. You see, we cast out spirits by calling them out by name & I don’t mean the name someone gave us on earth. Life & death is in the power of your tongue! Which means you have the power to cease everything that wasn’t spoken from heaven. The feelings that didn’t come from our Father, the remarks that discredit who you are in Christ, & generational curses that have been sugar coated with what can sometimes be called “family traditions”. You have the right, as an Heir of Royalty, to decree & reinforce everything the Father stands for.

Yesterday’s teaching showed me that we have also (sometimes unknowingly) been the manipulators in circumstances. I know I know, but before you suck your teeth, hear me out. Moodiness, lying, bragging, & lustfulness can all come from a place of manipulation. Including the times we’ve used false repentance in order to “manipulate” God into giving us what we desired or even thought we deserved. Not that God can be tricked or groomed by our self-righteousness because His love for us is not conditioned by our actions. You see the enemy is so crafty he uses us to manipulated others but tricks us into thinking that we’re acting with good intentions but horrible selfish patterns. I don’t like to play games, especially with the enemy because he never plays fair. Thank God the Blessor still comes with unwarranted blessings but as a father He also knows how to discipline us, which includes the gift of conviction. Conviction has been our gift since before we even chose to give our lives to Christ. It’s another way we learn right from wrong. So today is the day we bind the spirit of manipulation that has taunted our families, friends, coworkers, politics, etc. & loose TRUTH that frees us from ALL things. In Jesus name, Amen!
